In light of the soccer fever that has taken hold of the country, there are two special exhibitions at the Museum that should be of interest to both foreigners and South Africans alike.
The first is an exhibition about the history of soccer in South Africa with a special focus on soccer in the Free State province. The exhibition traces the development and growth of the game in the Free State from the late 1890s to the present day. Unique old photographs of soccer teams, soccer jerseys, blazers, trophies and other soccer memorabilia are on display.

The second is an exhibition showcasing South Africa’s national symbols. Information about the coat of arms, national flag and national anthem is displayed as well as beautiful examples of the national mammal (Springbok), bird (Blue Crane), fish (Galjoen), flower (King Protea) and tree (Real Yellowwood). This exhibition is of special interest to learners as national symbols form part of the school curriculum.
Information in the displays is presented in English, Afrikaans and Sesotho. Both exhibitions will be on display until the end of September.
