
The reference Library is available to educators, learners, students and members of the public by appointment and in accordance with the Museum’s rules and regulations. The Library contains a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, news clippings and journals, with emphasis on South African art.
Art classes for children and high school learners
The Nellie Brisley Art School at Oliewenhuis Art Museum offers art classes on a daily basis for children from the age of 4 to high school learners.

Painting and drawing classes for adults
Mariette Pretorius presents painting and drawing classes for adults and high school learners. Mediums include oil or acrylic paint, charcoal, dry pastel and pencil. Participants work at their own pace and beginners as well as experienced artists are welcome. These classes are also ideal for learners requiring an art portfolio for their studies.
Classes are presented on Monday mornings from 9:00am – 12:00pm and Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

Mosaic workshops for all age groups
Hilda Faber presents mosaic workshops for adults and for children 6 years and older. Workshops for adults take place on the last Saturday of the month, but other workshops can also be arranged. Hilda also offers holiday workshops for children and adults. To participate in these classes, it is not necessary to be artistic, just enthusiastic!
